Interested in joining Steel City Brewers? Awesome! Here is what you need to know.

We meet the second Wednesday of every month at Walter's Brewery. Occasionally, we will meet elsewhere and in the case of holidays falling on the second Wednesday we will move the meeting accordingly and inform members via email. Meetings start at 6 PM unless otherwise communicated. A typical meeting consists of club business, technical or educational presentations, homebrew tasting and socializing. We do ask that members refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages until after club business is complete.

Club Outings

We try to organize club outings a few times a year. In the past, our outings have included brewery tours, hop farm tours, and getting together for dinner. We also on occasion try to organize outings such as golfing, skiing and even quail hunting!

Big Brews

We gether a couple time a year at a members house and hold a Big Brew. Usually, we try to coordinate Big Brews around our intra-club competitions. We pick a style or theme and all get together and brew. Big Brews are great opportunities for members to learn from each other and grow as a home brewer! Families are welcome to attend too. We usually have food and non-alcoholic drinks available. Even if you don't participate in brewing at the Big Brew we encourage everyone to attend!

Intra-Club Competitions

  • March competition
  • June competition
  • September competition
  • December competition

We will announce the style for all four competitions at the January meeting so members have time to prepare.

Christmas Party

Every year we host a Christmas party for members and their partner. Because December is such a busy month, the Christmas Party serves as the December club meeting. We encourage everyone to come to the December meeting -- this is when we hold the leadership election for the next year. After club business is complete we judge our December Competition and award the winner.
